About Me

Hi Everyone!  I’m Jacqueline Harbison {in a little less than 4 months, Jacqueline Farley} and I live in New Jersey! I love NJ… close beaches and big cities! This is my 9th year teaching preschool. Preschool is the only grade I have taught… and I LOVE it! I have also student taught in 4th grade and have practicum experience throughout grades K-5, and would really be happy in any grade! I feel when teachers move around to different grades, they are forced to come out of their comfort zone, where they have to stretch their craft… find a whole new love!

I have always had a love of learning and the desire to become a teacher! My favorite after school and summer activity was to play school. While I know that many young children enjoy playing school, I think it is remarkable that I was so eager to be in school because, at times, my own elementary years were difficult. In first grade, I was classified as perceptually impaired. With the help of great elementary school teachers, my family, and my own determination, I overcame my disability by middle school. My educational struggles and the dedicated teachers who helped me succeed motivated me to pursue my undergraduate education and earn my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Psychology. After 3 years of teaching, I decided to pursue my education to develop my craft and learn more about a wide range of learning disabilities and special needs that so many children face. In 2010, I enrolled in an online special education certification/master’s program. It took me close to 3 years, to earn my certification {with lots of stress, lost sleep, and tears}, while I continued to be a full time teacher, but boy do I feel SO accomplish!  I am a life-long learner and committed to my profession, as are so many fantastic teachers out there!

Now that I do not have to devote my extra time to rigorous coursework, I decided to create a blog to have “a place to inspire, share, and connect”.

When I am not teaching, blogging, or making teaching products, I am spending time with my fiancé, family, and friends! 2013 was such an exciting year for me… I completed my special education certification program and I got engaged {Wahoo!}. This year will be {even more} amazing, as my fiancé and I continue to plan our wedding, before our big day on 12/12/14!

  3. Congratulations on your engagement! I see you're also a fellow NJ blogger. :) I love NJ too because of the beaches. It's the best place to be in the Spring - I like to drive down there with my boyfriend and spend a few hours there after teaching. In the fall though, we're in Hoboken because it's closer to where I teach. I found you through the Wordless Wednesday linky party at Sugar and Spice! I love your blog design, and especially the name. That's what caught me. :)
